Billie-Jayne Addis
I am a compassionate, dedicated and hardworking individual with over three years’ experience working within healthcare environments, where I have developed a genuine passion for supporting people and making a positive difference in their lives. I most recent role was as a Senior Healthcare Support Worker at North Devon District Hospital, where I provided person-centred care to patients with a variety of needs, always ensuring they are treated with dignity, respect and kindness.
Throughout my healthcare career, I have gained valuable experience supporting individuals with personal care, nutrition and hydration, monitoring health conditions, encouraging independence and providing emotional reassurance to patients and their families. I have developed strong communication and interpersonal skills through working closely with patients, relatives and wider healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors and therapists, to ensure safe and effective care is provided.
I have also completed Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support unit credits through my NHS employment and became a Mental Health First Aider, further strengthening my knowledge and understanding of supporting individuals both physically and emotionally. Alongside my healthcare experience, I am currently completing a BSc (Hons) in Criminology with Psychology, which has enhanced my understanding of human behaviour, communication and the importance of providing holistic support.
My motivation for becoming a professional carer comes from the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives. I find it incredibly rewarding to support individuals during times when they may feel vulnerable, whether that involves helping someone regain their independence after illness, providing companionship, or simply being someone they can rely on and feel comfortable with. I believe that high-quality care is about much more than meeting physical needs; it is about seeing the person as an individual, understanding their preferences, respecting their choices and helping them maintain their confidence and quality of life.
I am particularly passionate about supporting older adults and individuals who may require additional reassurance, patience and encouragement. My experience has taught me the importance of building trusting relationships, listening to people’s needs and providing care that promotes independence wherever possible.
I am now looking to continue developing my career as a professional carer, bringing my healthcare experience, compassion and commitment to supporting others into a role where I can provide reliable, personalised and high-quality care to those who need it most.
